So.... My Monday

Well, I am comforted to know that the quote didn't just apply to me. :)
So, this was our morning. Monday was the first day with Josh back to the grind. The girls and I didn't have anything planned (which I always love) so we just hung around the house. We played, painted (of course) in the morning, got around, and then we headed off to Walgreen's to do some shopping. I just love their ads and coupons! We came back and I HAD to clean out my car. Some people from church gave us 2 huge bags of girls clothes and they were in the back of the truck. As I was trying to sweep out my car, the girls were in the back tearing through the clothes and trying them all on. Clothes were just flying! My car was getting messier in the process! :) I went inside to grab a towel and when I returned, the 4 wheel drive, power drive, and hazard lights were all on! LOL At this point, I am starting to get a little testy. I suggested the girls go in the house to play. I put Sophie in charge (which she loves). I would go in every 5 minutes or so to check in. As I am trying to finish vacuuming, the retired neighbor lady comes over to deliver holiday fruit cake and some magazines she is done with. I was almost done! Now I am getting interrupted my the old lady across the street! :) Our garage floor is so dirty right now from all the snow/dirty roads. She walks through it all, doesn't take her shoes off at the door (which drives me nuts), walks into my home, and hands the girls ONE American Girl magazine. Halle grabs it, Sophie starts screaming, there are BLACK footprints all the way from my front door through the tile and 3 black prints onto our living room carpet. She pretends she didn't just do that. Sophie is throwing the biggest fit, I count her and inform her that she will be serving a time out when our wonderful neighbor leaves. I remain calm, say goodbye to the kind lady and then carry Sophie upstairs. I know Sophie is hungry, so I get lunch together in a hurry. I give the girls a corn muffin while I am preparing lunch to hold them over. The doorbells rings again and it's the neighbor again bringing me something else she thought we needed. She tells me what a wonderful mother I am and how it's "going to get better". I already know that! :) I return to the dining room table and see that Halle had crumbled her corn muffin ALL OVER the dining room floor. It looked like someone dumped a bucket of sand all over the floor! I said, "You didn't!" I carried Halle to time out, cleaned up the floor, served lunch, cleaned up, layed Halle down, layed Sophie down, and then I layed down! So, when I came across this quote a while later, I knew that God had sent me a special message at just the right time! The amazing thing to me is that throughout all of this, I never once thought, "This really stinks. I can't do this anymore." I just kept taking one to time out and then the other, cleaning up, smiling, and doing my job.

Patience to all of you during this season. Although we know "it's going to get better", I really don't care. We can't even imagine how it will feel to us when it's all over.

We had a much calmer afternoon.
