This morning, we took a family trip to Lowe's. Josh needed a few things and we got the paint for the nursery. We got out to the car, all buckled in, and Josh went to turn the key. No sound - the car was not even turning over or trying. We just looked shocked. There was no explanation for it. Josh grunted, got out of the car, popped the hood, and just stared. Sophie said, "Ughhh... I'm just going to pray. Dear God, please make our car better. Please help us to get home safely. In Jesus' name. Amen." Josh didn't know any of this was going on. I just sat quietly and listened to her. Josh got back in the car, tried to turn the key again and it fired right up. I couldn't believe it. He just looked at me completely puzzled. I said, "I think I have an explanation." I told him what Sophie did and he said, "We need to learn more from our kids. I was getting ready to cuss and praying was the last thing I thought of doing." We got home safely, and I suggested to the girls that we thank God for getting us home. We shouldn't just ask for things. We need to thank Him and acknowlege Him when he answers our prayers.
It's still a mystery why it did that. Maybe my '98 Honda is ready to be traded in for a newer model. :)
I praise God for the Christian example our children are to us each day and for their childlike faith.
I praise God that our children have actually - maybe - learned a little from us.
Ha Ha! That is so adorable! I love the pureness and innocence of children.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet story! Kids just see the world in a different way than we do.
ReplyDeleteWhat a testament as to how you are raising your children! What a precious moment....
