Apples...

In September, we did several "Apple" activities.  Our special friends - Heidi, Quinci and Copeland - joined us one day.  Heidi read a story about Johnny Appleseed and then led us in an apple cooking activity.  We cut apples in 1/2 and took out the seeds.
We added a little chunk of butter, a caramel and topped with a little bit of cinnamon and sugar.  Then we put them all in a 9X13 baking dish and added 1/2 inch of water to the bottom of the dish.  We baked them at 350 for 20 min or so - just until the apple was tender and the caramel was melted.
Eat them quickly because if you wait too long, the caramel gets tough!
We wrapped up our time together with a little water color painting of apple trees - so simple and beautiful.
