Sophie and Halle Update

Halle finally has 2 bottom teeth. That is still it at 14 months.

Dress-up time

" I don't think I like clothes. How about a birthday hat and a drumstick with some music!"

I thought it was about time to post an update on the girls....

Sophie ~ 3 years:
Physically:
Sophie weighed in at 29.5 lb at her 3 year check-up was 37.5 in. tall. She is still very petite and our skinny one at the time. She got her blood pressure checked for the first time, and that turned out great. She was a little nervous to get that thing wrapped around her arm. However, she let the nurse do it after investigating the device for a couple of minutes. :) She is a great sleeper. Still taking a 2 hr afternoon nap and sleeping from 8:45-7 through the night.
Emotionally: I spent some time talking with our pediatrician about sharing a home with a 3 year old. :) Ha! I don't even have to say any thing else! You all know how it is! If you don't have a three year old yet, just wait! Fun days are ahead for you. She has actually been on a really good stretch for about a week. She didn't throw one single fit all last week (for us or the daytime caregivers). I almost forget what it was like having a whining, "push my buttons", throw a fit and see if my mom will give in daughter. ha. It's kind of nice. Nature has a beautiful way of erasing things from your memory.
Truly...Sophie is such a good little girl, she is just very emotional.
Socially: She loves books, dress-up, singing, baby dolls, playing hair stylist, doctor, getting her nails painted, puzzles, painting, playing with water, helping me around the house with EVERYTHING. She loves to do laundry, wipe things for me, help sweep, etc.
She is the silliest girl. She still loves to take off her clothes. I'll look over, and she will be naked. I don't know where she gets that! Just keep you mouths shut! I wonder when she will stop doing that. I like to think of it as Adam and Eve. Someday, she will just know, right?
Intellectually: She will be starting pre-school in September at our church. We are excited for that. She knows how to count into the 20's, her colors, shapes, tons of nursery rhymes. She does not know her letters (just a few) or her numbers. I am working with her! She is reading in her own way.

Halle ~ 14 months:

Physically: At 13 months, she weighed 23.5 lb and was 30 in. tall. Our chunker at the time!
Wow! Busy times. Her shins are covered in bruises. She has a goose egg on each side of her forehead. She is a crazy woman. Sophie was so hesitant. Halle doesn't have any fears. Sophie always stood right by my side in public (and still does). Halle is a runner! They are total opposites. She still has her fun-loving, happy personality. She climbed on top of the toy box and just looked at me and smiled. She is trouble! I think I've had a boy.
She sleeps amazing. 2 naps still and 12 hours straight through the night. We just stopped giving her the bedtime bottle of milk and she didn't really care. That is pretty much how she has handled every transition. Just whatever!
She eats everything you put on her tray. She eats more than Sophie does by far.

Socially: We have see such a change in her over the past 2 weeks. You can really see the little girl she is becoming, and I love it. She is able to do so much and is really starting to talk a lot. Well, you know...sounds and a handful of words. The cutest thing she says is "no" and shakes her head really fast side to side.
Intellectually: She is also really taking an interest in books. She loves songs and dancing. She also LOVES the water!

Well, there is your update. I hope you enjoyed it!

  1. Ah. The famous NO word. Anna has also learned this and uses it all the time. I have been asking many people if the attitude she has is a girl thing or the second child thing. She has the same daredevil fiesty attitude you are describing. FUN times headed our way.
