I always try to take a moment to explain the polls on the side. I'm asking these questions for a reason...
I don't know where I went wrong, or if I went wrong...
But - BOTH of the girls still pee at night. Sophie is 6 and Halle is 4.
They both pottytrained early - at 2. But, we always used pull ups at night. I don't know if that was our first mistake - they use them as a crutch. ??
However, I've been researching this issue, and I've consistently come across: Bedwetting is genetic.
Josh and I BOTH peed the bed late.
I don't know what else to do. I've tried getting rid of pull ups for good, but it's a ton on laundry! We've cut off fluids. We've used charts. Praise for success!
Have any of you struggled with this? Did you find something that worked?
On our datenight on Saturday, we went to Barnes & Noble and read a book together and created a "plan of attack".
But, I just wanted to throw this out there and see if any of you had any ideas for us!! :/
HELP.
Wow! You and I haven't talked about this for awhile so I was thinking maybe Sophie was through it by now. I'm so sorry to hear this is still going on. I'm sure it's frustrating for you and the girls both. You are doing everything I would have suggested. If it's any comfort to you, my sister wore diapers to bed until she was 8. My mom tried everything, she just couldn't get through the night without wetting. It may just be something you have to wait out. I'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteHey Myah! I've been checking in on your blog since you went off facebook:) I love reading other moms' blogs~ I think it is so encouraging. I hope you don't mind that I've added you to my list! Anyhow, my boys (almost 5 and almost 4) still wet the bed as well...and they were both trained early(young 2). We've tried the SAME things you've tried!!! I talk to my pediatrician EVERY well child visit about it and he told me there wasn't really anything that would work~ their brains and bodies just aren't on the same page yet~ they will eventually outgrow it when things "click" internally. But it is SO frustrating!!! I'm right there with you! Good luck!

P.S. My mom told me she saw an advertisement for a chiropracter who claims that he could help with bedwetting...I'm a bit sceptical on that one...but maybe if I get desperate enough, I'll try it:)
I think it is just something they will outgrow. Especially since both you and Josh were bedwetters. My niece and nephew both wet the bed....my niece until she was like 10 or 11 and my nephew is 7 and still does. And their parents were bedwetters too. They tried everything like you have, and the doctor just said they have to out grow it. I'm sure it is so frustrating!! Good Luck! And just know you did nothing wrong and it will stop one of these days!!
ReplyDeleteBe encouraged, girl... it WILL happen... Aaron wasn't potty trained at night until 5, too. As hard as it is, I would encourage you to make it a NON-issue.... they just aren't ready biologically. Keep limiting fluid a bit at night (but that is hard in the hot summer months!)... but I probably wouldn't reward or punish as this is something that I believe that they just don't have control over yet! But yes, it WILL happen!!!! Hang in there, friend, and know that I will listen whenever you need to chat! :)
