Power

I subscribe to Simple Mom's blog, and this post of hers came to my inbox this week. I am posting it here because I feel it's worth 10 minutes of your time to read. I am pretty certain we ALL deal with power struggles with our little ones each day. Some may even make you want to say bad words. Josh is SO good at coaching me - and saying, "Myah, stop talking. Be simple. Use less words." But, I think this article is relevant, and I may even purchase this book.

Has anyone read Parenting with Love and Logic? That is the book she is referring to. She says it has "transformed her parenting philosophy".

Well, anyway - read this article and let me know what you think. I liked it.

  1. Hey Myah! I just read this post...I use this often and it totally works. Knock on wood, but I've NEVER had my kids argue with me when we leave someplace fun because not only do I give them a choice between when to leave (in 5 minutes or 10 minutes), but I also give them 5, 2, and 1 minute warnings. Callie doesn't understand time yet, but she understands the countdown. I also remind them, before we go anywhere, that when I call for them they are to come to be the FIRST time. It's a lot of reminders, but it sure beats the temper tantrums that we've all seen (by our kids or others!).

I've never heard of simplemom.net but I just subscribed to her blog.
