Well... I'm Back, and I'm back with boundaries! After nearly a week of no internet access at my home, it's now up and running.
But, I'm not going to lie. It was kind of nice. "Uh, I don't know what's going on... I can't check my email." It's an awesome excuse!
For example, right now - I need to mop my floors, but I'm catching up on things on the computer! I'm not only backed up with emails and banking, but Josh got me a MacBook, so I'm trying to play around and learn all about it!
This time without a computer has really opened my eyes to the technology boundaries I've been wanting to establish. This has been on my mind for a while - and I'm very thankful for this time without internet. It confirmed everything I've been feeling.
This is what I'm thinking - I'll check my email first thing in the morning and do banking items. Then I may check in on things at night after the kids go to bed. But, during the daytime - when I'm loving and teaching the kids and managing our home - the computer will remain off.
Ok, the computer is going to go off now because I need to MOP!!!!!! :)
I agree it can be too easy to get sucked in. Because I work so much, and teach online classes in addition to my regular ones, I HAVE to be online throughout the day, but it's much too easy to sneak over to email, Facebook, and your blog:)
ReplyDeleteSometimes, I have to make myself work for half an hour before I let myself check another site; otherwise, I would never get anything done.
Wisdom my friend. Good stuff.
