I just had to share this with you!!!
I had to make a quick stop at the grocery store today at noon after I picked up the girls from daycare. Formula, toilet paper, coffee, fresh produce. You know, some very important items to get us through until the weekend.
Well, right after I set the coffee in the cart, we pushed forward towards a man and lady. The man had a rather large stomach. Not anything out of the norm in America. However, a very good target for a 2.5 year old who can't control her inner monologue. Sophie yells in a southern accent ( and I mean YELLS because she is tired and slap happy at this point, and I don't know where the southern accent came from), "That's big! That guy's stomach is so big!" She didn't just say it once nice and loud. She kept repeating it several times as we traveled down the lane! I started to panic as were approaching another man with a large stomach. I braced myself for more embarrassment. She again yells, "That guy's stomach is big too!"
I was just dying on the inside. There was no one but Halle to share this moment with. I just kept saying, "shhhhhhhhh. Yes, it's big, Sophie, shhhhhhhhh!"
I never looked back to see the looks on those poor souls' faces. I just kept pushing forward saying, "shhhhhh".
Oh my goodness that is just too funny. I was crying I was laughing so hard. I would not know what to do in that situation either. I think you did the best you could! :) Ah, everyday is an adventure.
ReplyDeleteThat happens to the best of us. There really isn't a way to prepare for it either.
